FIFA President Gianni Infantino strongly condemned an act of violence that occurred during the match between the national teams of Mexico and Honduras on Friday, November 15. During the quarterfinal match of the Concacaf Nations League, coach Javier Aguirre was struck by a projectile thrown by a Honduran fan at the Estadio General Francisco Morazán. The incident generated strong criticism and concern in the football world.

"Such violent behaviors have no place in football. Such incidents have no place in our sport or in our society," expressed Infantino in an official statement. The FIFA president urged authorities to ensure the integrity of players, coaches, and fans, highlighting the importance of safety at all levels to enjoy the sport.

Concacaf, for its part, announced that the Disciplinary Commission would be responsible for investigating the incident and determining the appropriate disciplinary measures. So far, it has not been communicated what sanction the Honduran Football Federation will receive for these events. The organization emphasized that the safety of teams and spectators is a priority and reiterated its rejection of violence on and off the field.

Gianni Infantino expressed his dismay over the incident and stated that it would be reviewed by the Concacaf Disciplinary Commission. The FIFA president stressed that such attitudes have no place in sport, and it is expected that necessary measures will be taken to prevent similar situations from occurring in the future.
